RootSwitch, LLC respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Information you send us through the contact form, such as your name and email.
- Domain searches, which we use only to check availability.
- Account details you give us: name, email, phone number, postal address, and company.
- For each sign-in: IP address, approximate location, network provider, and browser or device information.
- Registrant contact details when you register a domain, as required by ICANN and the registry.
- For orders over $50: a photo or scan of a government-issued ID and a selfie, to confirm who is placing the order.
ID photos
We use your ID and selfie only to verify your identity the first time you place an order over $50; once approved, we don't ask again. We remove location and camera data from the images, store them encrypted, and only our staff can view them. They are deleted automatically as soon as we approve or decline the order, or after 30 days at most. We never share them or use them for anything else.
How we use it
We use your information to provide and support our services, to meet registry and legal obligations, to protect accounts from fraud and abuse (including checking whether a connection comes from a VPN or proxy), and to contact you about your account. We may disclose account information when required by law or valid legal process, such as a court order. We do not sell your personal information.
Domain registration data
To register a domain, we share your contact details with our registrar partner and the domain's registry, as their rules require. Many registries redact personal contact details from public WHOIS and RDAP results, but this depends on the registry and is not guaranteed.
